Inside organizers have asked for weekly phone zaps against Prairie Du Chien to support their campaign against asbestos at this prison. For the next phone zap, call the Prairie Du Chien security director Russ Bausch at (608) 326-7828 extension 2300. You’ll either talk with him, his secretary, or his answering machine. If you talk to someone they are very unlikely to answer questions on people’s condition, but calling shows there is outside attention and can reduce retaliation. Phone calls have the most impact, but if you want to email as well or instead of call, the address is: Russell.Bausch@wisconsin.gov
Sample script: “I’m a member of IWOC, incarcerated workers organizing committee. I am calling out of concern of the cover-up of conditions of asbestos and black mold at your facility. There is an ongoing lawsuit by incarcerated people on these conditions, and IWOC has gotten multiple credible reports of correctional officers trying to cover up these conditions rather than improving them, and retaliating against incarcerated people. Are you aware of the actions by guards ? Do you have any comment on this?”
Last week when people called they spoke with the security director, who claimed ignorance of any coverup or retaliation. If you speak this person, you can refer to evidence in this communication:
