Excerpt from a letter sent 6/9/19 by someone incarcerated at Fox Lake Correctional Institution:
“FLCI update
It seems like recreation here is cancelled 1-2 times per week for “short staffing”. It seems like it is working at one institution so they implement it at others. We have canteen issues. Every time canteen is out of at least 20-30 items. They blame this on issues with union supply’s trucking contract. I edited the voices 7 issue and sent it back. I want all volunteers to know how much we appreciate your efforts to keeping inmates connected. I feel like a part of a fraternity. I wish there was more we could do, but many men (including myself) are afraid of retribution.”
